Start Out Right by Task Stacking

Open windows to replace stale air with fresh air. Begin laundering bedding, towels & washcloths, dish towels, potholders, tablecloths, throw rugs, curtains, etc. If you have a dishwasher, get it running. Do a walk-through to inspect for damage & items guests have left behind, making any notes in the last section of the checklist.

Entryways

• Clear ceiling corners of cobwebs; dust ceiling fans

• Wipe down walls including art & hanging decor

• Wash doors & windows inside & out

• Dust & polish furniture surfaces & knickknacks

• Sanitize frequently touched surfaces such as knobs, light switches, handles, etc.

• Empty & clean wastebaskets

• Shake rugs outdoors, laundering if needed

• Clean baseboards, then sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floor

Living Room

• Clear ceiling corners of cobwebs; dust ceiling fans

• Wipe down walls including art & hanging decor

• Wash doors & windows inside & out

• Dust & polish furniture surfaces, light fixtures, electronics, & knickknacks

• Sanitize/disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as knobs, light switches, handles, remotes, keypads, etc.

• Vacuum & sanitize upholstery; vacuum between cushions

• Empty & clean wastebaskets

• Shake rugs outdoors, laundering if needed

• Clean baseboards, then sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floor

Bedrooms

• Clear ceiling corners of cobwebs & dust ceiling fans

• Wipe down walls including art & hanging decor

• Wash doors and windows inside & out

• Vacuum stripped bed, check for pests, & replace all bedding

• Dust light fixtures

• Check inside drawers; dust & polish furniture, electronics, & knickknacks

• Clean oven, racks, & warming drawer/broiling drawer

• Clean & sanitize exterior & interior of refrigerator & freezer; discard any opened or expired food

• Clean exterior & interior of cupboards & cabinets; discard any opened or expired food

• Sanitize/disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as knobs, light switches, handles, remotes, keypads, etc.

• Empty & clean trash can; replace trash bag

• Shake rugs outdoors, laundering if needed

• Clean baseboards, then sweep & mop floor

Bathroom

• Clear ceiling corners of cobwebs; dust ceiling fan

• Wipe down walls

• Spray tile surfaces & grout; allow cleaning product to soak several minutes

• Wash doors & windows inside & out

• Wipe down light fixtures

• Clean mirror & inside cabinet

• Finish tile surfaces & grout, then scrub & disinfect tub

• Clean & disinfect toilet inside & out

• Clean & disinfect sink & faucets

• Sanitize/disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as toilet handles, knobs, light switches, cabinet handles, etc.

• Empty & clean wastebasket; replace trash bag

• Shake rugs outdoors, laundering if needed

Balconies, Porches, & Other Outdoor Areas

• Clear cobwebs; dust outside corners & walls around fixtures & decor

• Wash external doors & windows

• Clean outdoor furniture & decorations

• Trim plants & add fresh mulch (upon request)

• Sanitize/disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as knobs, light switches, handles, remotes, keypads, etc.

• Sweep & hose down floor

• Provide curb appeal by making sure the front area is tidy & welcoming
